At the June 2025 meeting, we allocated $2,000 to reinforce the existing pier structure. Phill Wells has secured a bid from Evan Hepburn to perform the work; however the work estimate is larger than $2k. Reinforcement with two chains per pier segment is $2,500. In addition to the chain reinforcement, examination of the pier identified a rotten stringer that supports the center of the pier boards. The proposed work to replace the stringer is $1,200. The Board of Directors has voted unanimously to support both projects.
We are seeking a vote from the Tallwood membership to approve the additional $1,700 budget to complete the stringer replacement and chain reinforcement. We have the funds necessary for this work, and no increase in dues will be necessary to cover the additional expense.
There is another option to only use one chain per segment, which would reduce the expense by $1k. The board recommends the double reinforcement because it will be significantly stronger.

We will have a special meeting of the association on Sunday, November 9 at 11am at the waterfront. The agenda of that meeting will be to vote on one issue:
Motion to accept the responses of the online vote and take action as indicated by the count of the members' online votes.
The pier is showing signs of age, and the winter storms in January 2024 were a wakeup call that we may need funds on hand to address pier repair or replacement. We replaced the gangway in 2022 at a cost of $11,300. Current estimates place the pier replacement need at $50,000.
This averages out to $3,000 per household, or $600 per household per year over five years.
